Gray shade in graphical tooth chart

The left side of my graphical tooth chart in the chart module has all the left teeth gray for the first patient I open. The shading goes away if I alt-tab to another screen. This started when I upgraded to 17.3.38.0
Also, when I log into OD, focus is not on the password so I have to click in the dialog box to type in the password.
Anyone else seeing this behavior?

I have the same thing except mine does not go away after I Alt-Tab. I had to change graphics preferences in OD from DirectX to OpenGL. Also version 17.3.38.

Šame issue here with half the tooth chart “greyed out” when I upgraded to 17.3.X. I had to do the same fix as Jorgebon and switch to OpenGL but even that didn’t fix all my workstations. I run Windows 7 on all workstations.

This has been an ongoing issue which was supposed to be fixes a couple of versions ago. We still get it randomly. Sometimes if you select another module and then go back to the chart it is fixes.

Whoa! Anyone notice they now use SharpDX instead of the old Microsoft DirectX for DotNet library?
Cool! One step closer to running on ARM.

The bug "DirectX tooth chart was showing dark teeth in Windows 10 when using integrated graphics sometimes." was fixed and released with v17.4.14 and v17.3.43

I'd be curious to see if the above fix helps your Windows 7 machine. The nature of the fix was such that I have a hunch it might be beneficial to more operating systems than just 10.

Yes, now all my machines can use the DirectX tooth chart including the Windows 7 machines.

What's the benefit to using DirectX vs OpenGL? DirectX support is spotty from version to version. OpenGL always works for me.

Access to the graphical perio chart is the main point (within Open Dental).

OpenGL is typically slower at drawing the 3D teeth. You can often times see it rendering each tooth (in order) which can happen a lot if you are trying to do many things in the Chart module quickly.
