Server configuration

Post by dentexgroup » Thu Jan 21, 2010 3:35 am

Hi
We already run Open Dental with success in our small local branch.
Now we are looking toward moving the Main office (30+ comps) to OD too.
My thoughts: to install Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standart for mySQL & web services purpose (in future we're going to connect all branches including mobile ones to the Main office), and by using Hyper-V install on same hardware (HP Proliant d320 G6) Linux platform for sharing AtoZ folder.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks.

Both on the same machine? I was not aware that you could do that.

You could separate the application stack even more by running two Linux VMs, one for the database server, and the other for the folders. Then keep you web services on the Windows box. This provides good database security and protects it from IIS a bit better.
