Editing Appointment Types

Post by Mgostigian » Wed Oct 26, 2016 5:58 am

We are moving to assisted hygiene so I am trying to set up the proper DA/Hyg provider times. Is the Appointment Type feature now obsolete? I am trying to customize our new patient appointments to better fit the DA/Hyg provider times. When I go to the manual here: http://www.opendental.com/manual/appointmenttypes.html
Double clicking the appointment type does not show the screen shown in the user manual. Is this feature obsolete or is there a different way to do it?

Hmm strange... I recommend giving us a call when you have some time so that one of our fantastic techs could take a look and make sure there isn't any funny business going on!

This is what shows up when I try to edit appt type. All I am trying to do is move where the provider time is within an appointment. For example, for a 90 min new patient exam it shows up as 10-50-30. I would like it moved to like 30-50-10. Right now it seems the only way to achieve this is manually editing each appointment's provider time in the schedule.

On the contrary to this feature being obsolete, it is actually in beta. In version 16.3 we enhanced appointment types to include procedures and provider time patterns. You may update to 16.3 at this time if you desire this feature, but it will be buggier than the stable version 16.2.

Thanks Chris. So it looks like the manual is actually ahead of the curve here? I'll hold off for now until it becomes the stable version. I am glad to see this feature being implemented soon. In the mean time, do you know if there's another way to accomplish what I'm describing?

Provider time is dictated by what procedures are added to the appointment. Each procedure can have a specified provider time (/'s and X's) which are talked about in the Time Pattern section of the procedure edit window.

Yes but every appointment by default starts as /X when I would like to change it to something like ///X. The only way to change it is by manually changing each and every appointment which can be confusing and time consuming for staff. I would like to be able to set it a certain time pattern by default.

I added the bug "Appointment time pattern logic needs to be enhanced to combine procedure time patterns better."
http://opendentalsoft.com:1942/ODBugTra ... sions.aspx

Instead of forcing "/X" onto the beginning and end, the logic will keep all the Xs, and use the max /s for the beginning and for the end.

e.g.
/X/+/X/+/XX/+/XX/ = /XXXXXX/
/XXX/+/X/+/XXXX//// = /XXXXXXXX////
//XXX/ +X/ = //XXXX/
//XXX/ +/X// = //XXXX//

The bug "Appointment time pattern logic enhanced to combine procedure time patterns better." is fixed and will be released with v16.3.22.

Your request to change the default time pattern for every procedure from /X/ to something different would be a feature request.
