Question about Beta 15.1

Post by Pruce Dental » Tue Apr 21, 2015 9:47 pm

Never find time during the day to call support....

In version 15.1 when you go thru the chart and open the medical history window and go up to the top right and click on " add medication"..the program hangs for 5 seconds or so before opening the next screen and then when you use the search feature to find medications the program lags again a few seconds and then each letter you type populates the screen in slow motion...anyone else seeing this issue besides me?

Those windows are unnecessarily chatty with the database so I could see why it would get progressively slower as more medications are added to the database. I've submitted this as a bug: "Medications window is slow to use when there are lots of medications on file."

In the meantime you can try optimizing your database tables by clicking the Optimize button in database maintenance.

Even though the windows are very chatty, I was able to launch the Medications window and search without much delay with a database that had 2K medications in it. How many medications do you have in your database for our testing purposes?

Code: Select all

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM medication

Optimizing did nothing to help..but see that it was added to the bug list...

Any progress on this bug? I have seen it one the list for a few weeks now. I have a lot of new patients with over 10 meds to enter and it is really frustrating and turning something that used to take 3 seconds into a 7-10 minute job...

It's still on the bug tracker: "Medications window is slow to use when there are lots of medications on file"
http://opendentalsoft.com:1942/ODBugTra ... sions.aspx

It was a very old window and we're having to upgrade a vast majority of the code behind the scenes which has been a rather painful process. We definitely don't want to cause an additional bug in this particular part of the program.

This has fixed! You will see it perform much faster now when you update to version 15.1.24.
