Just upgraded office computers to WIndows 7.
When printing a deposit slip, the Brother MFC7440N multifunction at the front desk (USB connection) will print the total and the check list BUT NOT the individual checks in the upper part of the form! The deposit slip prints fine through other printers in the office. And when this printer was on XP, there was no problem printing deposit slips.
I have downloaded and re-installed printer drivers, etc. Set the FIle>Printers menu up properly and this is the default printer. Eric in support thought the problem might be that this part of the code was written in PCL (ancient technology), but no PCL specific driver is to be found on the Brother website.
Weird Weird Weird - any ideas?
Rick

Replace the printer. After looking around on the net a bit I think that it is a GDI printer and not a PCL printer.
You can buy a fairly cheap network based laser printer and be done with it.
One of the main things we look at in our office is how much the toner costs per print. We have multifunction laser printer that has a 10,000 print cartridge that runs around $185 to replace OEM (to maintain warranty). This costs us an average of 1.85 cents per print.

Re: Weird printer problem in Windows 7
And so this afternoon it worked... go figure!!!!!!!!!!
PS - After the firmware upgrade, i did not turn the printer off and on again. My FD did cycle it and it started working - I bet that was the solution
