Storage of Patient Photos

Post by Larry Bird » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:50 pm

Just wondering how various users store patient photos. I don't own the program yet so this may be obvious if I were to get the program. I am considering the XDR sensor and not sure if that software has the capacity to store photos as well as radiographs.

Open Dental has included features for storing and displaying patient photos, and that's the best place for them. That way, they will show in the appointments and in the Family module. Any imaging software, including XDR, can also easily store patient photos, but there's not much point storing them there.

It stores them to a folder with the patient's name on a server where the database is hosted (usually, you can change this).

When you are in the Images Tab of the program it is very easy to view all of the X-Rays and Statements in that folder. You can even email Images/Statements directly from this screen too!

It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it :D
