As I start using email more for inter office and patient communication I want to make sure I am HIPAA compliant. I have looked at some open source email clients and services. Cryptomail is a web based service I have looked at. Does anyone have any experience with this service or have any recommendations?

Re: Secure email
We've been searching for a solution for years. Web-based is really the only way I can think of. And even with web-based email, both parties have to use the same website. So instead of sending someone email, you send them a link notifying them that they need to sign into a website to see the message. Or, if you send it from one gmail user to another gmail user, it would be secure as long as you did it through the browser and not using an external program like OD.

Re: Secure email
We have Verizon DSL and get offers with the monthly statments for
HIPPA compliant email security for about $7 bucks per month.
If I read the offer properly it says..
once you sign up it encrypts your email mssg
and only the receiving person can read it,
and they DON'T have to have the service.
Can anyone confirm this?

Looks like a good solution. It only comes as part of a Verizon bundle. I will continue to look for a similar standalone solution.
