Backup Issue Version 6.0.1.0

Post by savvy » Mon Sep 08, 2008 8:27 pm

I use a 4.0 GB flash drive and backup OD and Quickbooks each night using each respective backup feature.
There are 5 files on this drive.

OpenDentalImages (1.86GB)
OpenDentalData (28.6 MB)
QB Sept 4 (36.6 MB)
QB sept 5 (36.6 MB)
QB sept 8 (36.6 MB)

Now, since upgrading to v. 6.0.1.0, OpenDentalData backs up fine, but the image file does not. The Image backup window appears
with the notation that the file size is being checked.......that's it. It never begins to backup.

If I delete the Image file from the flashdrive it will back up.

It says there are 1.8 GB Free Space left on the flash drive.

Any suggestion as to what the problem is?

I've seen this issue before. I think that the problem is related to files in the "A-Z" folder that are being locked by another computer or application. The file is locked in a read-only status, and this causes the backup failure. You might want to try rebooting all of your computers, and then run the backup again (after they are rebooted). If the backup works after rebooting, then you will know that it is probably related to a locked file. You can overcome this issue by not backing up over the existing files on your flash drive.

Hopefully this helps.
