Is there a way to retrieve this data ?

Post by mzrdmd » Tue Nov 15, 2011 10:14 am

My staff and I regularly use a patient named "NOTE" to make notes for ourselves. We put it in the 4th column, and everyone can read whatever needs to be shared, make memos for themselves, etc.

I had a huge list of notes to myself, and I was organizing them on paper and lost them all.

Is there any way to recover them ?

Thanks,

Mike

What do you mean you "lost them all"? The column's not showing? The patient got deleted? Appointments don't just magically disappear.

No, the column didn't disappear. Sorry for not being more clear.

Let's say I had a list of 20 things there. The top 3 are still there, #'s 4 through 20 are gone.

I was editing it, and cut what I thought was only one item, but I evidently cut everything from there and below. When I pasted it where I wanted it, only the top item showed up. The rest are GONE !

What if I would have my IT company restore from backup ? I don't want them to restore it to my system, as I would lose everything from today, but maybe they could restore to one of their computers, copy and paste it into an email, and then I would have it.

Any easier way ?

Thanks,

Mike

I still don't understand. Were they blockouts, then?

No, they weren't blockouts.

The data has been recovered via restoration from backup.

Just to explain in greater detail, I created a patient named "NOTE". Whenever we need to make a note of something, we "schedule" that patient named "note" in the 4th column, and we type whatever we need to into the appointment notes. It's mostly memos to ourselves.

How do other people do it ?

Thanks,

Mike

I wasn't aware that you could cut and paste appointments. That's where I lost you a little. But I guess it doesn't matter now.

I think he must have cut and pasted the TEXT in the note and it didn't get copied properly to the clipboard when trying to move it? Is that what you are saying?

So as a general approach to this sort of thing, you can have multiple historical copies of your database in your mysql data folder. You can easily launch alternates as long as you are very careful not to get them confused with your current db. The best way to avoid confusion is to restore to your home computer. You don't want to restore to your server because you might delete your main database (yes, I know a number of OD customers who have accidentally done this).
