Phone # in Chart Patient Information

Post by Rickliftig » Sat Sep 17, 2011 3:47 am

Would it be possible to have the phone number as a display field in Setup>displayfields>Chart patient Information?

There have been a number of times where I have been in the chart and needed to call the patient - then have to flip back to the account info - it's no big deal, but another step.Even better would be a "hover over" like on the appointment display - this could save valuable screen real estate.

Rick,
Get a Google Voice number. Then download and install GVdial.
There were two threads that gave instructions:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3060&p=13133&hilit=gvdial#p13133
and
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3060&p=16563&hilit=gvdial#p16563

You'll never have to switch back and forth to look for a phone number. Just click on the program link at the top of the chart and let Google dial the number for you. It's awesome.

Rob - I guess I just have to pull the trigger on this "feature"...it sounds too good to be true! I already use GV for after hours calls.

Rick,
You'll love it.
Google Voice is awesome. I installed the app on my iPhone. When I'm not in the office I use Google Voice to dial my patients and transfer the call to my iPhone or my home phone, and the patient only sees the GV number on the caller ID. When a patient calls me back on my GV # my iPhone rings and I can see who is calling me before I pick it up.

I recommend exporting all your patient numbers and e-mails to your Google Voice account. Then you have access to them from anywhere.

Here's a query to get your patient contact list for importing into Google Voice:
SELECT
patient.LName AS 'Last Name', patient.FName AS 'First Name',
patient.HmPhone AS 'Home Phone', patient.WkPhone AS 'Work',
patient.WirelessPhone AS 'Mobile Phone', patient.Email AS 'E-mail Address'
FROM patient WHERE PatStatus = '0'

Export to a Tab Deliminated Text file and then import into the Google Voice Contacts list. I set up a group called Patients in Google Voice.

Happy Googling
