Database location.
Database location.
Recently, changed out to a newer workstation and Open Dental has been working fine. But, for some reason recently,it keeps asking for the database location and have to enter it in in order to start it. On all the other WS, there is no issues. Any way to keep the database location without having to reenter it in everytime? Any suggestions?
If it bleeds, we can kill it.
Re: Database location.
Sounds like the user logged into the computer doesn't have read/write permissions to the Open Dental installation directory. Once they have ample permission they'll be able to manipulate the FreeDentalConfig.xml file within that directory which is where that information is stored and updated.
The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit.

Re: Database location.
An easy way to stop this happening is to run Open Dental as Admin, and choose the box that says "Do Not Show This Window on Startup".

Re: Database location.
Thanks. The permissions worked.
On to another workstation. I recently uninstall ATI Catalyst program and software and on another WS replaced the video card (two different events for two different workstations), received this message Open Dental has stopped working...A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I've tried on one of the workstations to repair and uninstall and reinstall with no solution. What else can I try?

Re: Database location.
Your graphics settings are likely causing the crash.
On a workstation that is operational, perform the following steps:
1. Go to Setup > Advanced Setup > Computers
2. Highlight the computer that is not working
3. Click 'Use Simple Graphics'
That should resolve the issue.

Please clarify. Go into Windows? or OD? I can't open OD.

Re: Database location.
These steps assume you have more than one workstation in the office. If you only have one computer you'll need to call in and we'll have to run a query to fix it for you.Arna wrote:On a workstation that is operational, perform the following steps:
