3shape Bridge

Post by gitter » Wed Jan 13, 2021 6:02 am

Is anyone able to use the new bridge to 3shape?

https://www.opendental.com/manual/bridge3shape.html

I am missing the path on our workstation:

C:\Program Files\3Shape\Dental Desktop\Plugins\ThreeShape.PMSIntegration\DentalDesktopCmd.exe

I do have the folder:
C:\Program Files\3Shape\Dental Desktop\Plugins\
with other plugins, but missing "ThreeShape.PMSIntegration.."

I tried to contact 3shape, no response. Our 3shape reseller says it is in the USA only, but we are in Canada.

We had a lot of back and forth with 3-Shape including their corporate office in Europe and their tech support in Mexico but to no avail. I think this is not a priority for them. The file 'DentalDesktopCmd.exe' simply does not exist and it seems to be a command line version of the DentalDesktop.exe that is provided. Without the DentalDesktopCmd.exe version there is no way to use switches and it does not integrate as we would like it to.

Please let me know if you found an alternative way to do this.

3shape provided the exe in my latest update.

bridge works basically.
2 issue:
patient ID is not added in 3shape. not sure if this is open dental or 3shape issue.

3shape removes any space in names, this causes no match found and duplicate entries

There was a bug fix back in Open Dental v20.5.38 and v21.1.13 that should have automatically changed the "Path of file to open" within the ThreeShape bridge to:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\3Shape\Dental Desktop\Plugins\ThreeShape.PracticeManagementIntegration\DentalDesktopCmd.exe
It might be as simple as doing that to get the bridge to start working. That or you need to figure out what the actual path of that 'DentalDesktopCmd.exe' file is and set the "Path of file to open" field within Open Dental accordingly. Feel free to call Open Dental support and we can help you get the right path entered into the Program Link.

There was a bug fix in Open Dental v23.2.73, v23.3.74, v24.1.88. v24.2.66, v24.3.34, and v24.4.5 to preserve the spacing within patient names.
