Re: Security settings
One common way is to give everyone access to everything except admin, setup, and timecards. Then, just a few select people for setup and timecards. With the new global lock by date, I don't really see a reason to mess with date limitation on individual permissions.

Re: Security settings
What is 'global lock by date' and how does that work? If I uncheck time cards, it seems that my staff can't clock in. How do i give them access and still have them clock in?

Both of those questions should be answered at the bottom of:

There's a screenshot of the Lock Date feature. When I say timecards, I don't mean the one at the bottom of the security window. I mean the "Edit All Timecards" in the list of permissions.

Yes, the "Edit All Timecards" in the list of permissions, if I uncheck that then employees can't clock in.

Re: Security settings
Have you
1. Created different 'users' for each of your staff, and then
2. Associated 'employees' with each user
3. Had each employee login with the now associated user account
If the user, logged in as himself cannot edit his own timecard, then the maybe 'users cannot edit their own timecards' box is checked at the bottom of the security screen also owns
