Open dental cloud on Chromebooks

Post by 32str8 » Thu Jan 16, 2025 4:42 pm

Has anyone managed to run Open dental cloud on Chromebooks? I know that we will need some thick clients (real PCs) to incorporate some dental imaging with a twain driver but we are currently using over 30 Chrome boxes running a Microsoft remote desktop Android app logging into our server. My understanding is that open dental cloud is not a true browser-based platform as it needs to install a Windows based piece of software on each terminal forcing us to buy all new Windows pc's. Does anyone know how accurate this information is and if there is a workaround to make Chromebooks work. Our servers are nearing end of life and I don't want to spend $50,000-$60,000 for new servers and brand new PC's. Since we use Google workspace for all our other office needs the Chromebooks have been an excellent and inexpensive alternative to Windows PCs and we would like to continue using them. Any help from someone knowledgeable would be greatly appreciated.
