new server

Post by drtbar » Wed Dec 11, 2024 4:23 am

I recently installed a new server and named it "newserver" while I was dragging files to it from the old server. I decided just to stick with "newserver," and now every time clients open opendental it defaults to the old "server" and we have to manually type in "newserver" to connect.

Is there a way so we do not have to keep typing in "newserver" in the middle tier?

I should clarify that it's not as easy as just renaming it "server" because I have other programs that are now pointing to "newserver."

If you are talking about the Choose Database window when you first launch Open Dental, you might want to read this page in our manual.

A simple solution that might work for you is
To save changes to this window for the next time Open Dental is launched on this workstation, choose Run as Administrator when launching Open Dental.
The manual page describes different strategies to connecting to your new server.

Yes, in the choose database window. Run as administrator and changing the path to "newserver" did it, and the change sticks whether running as administrator again or not.

Thanks for your help!
