The insurance estimate that you are seeing includes the write off, which is why it looks so high. When you post the insurance payment and create the writeoff, the balance remaining will be the patient portion ($45 + 3.50).

You must also select the appropriate appointment view for this to display on the schedule. Go to the appointment module. On the right side, under the calendar, there is a "View" with a drop down menu. Select F1-Default, or the view that you added the confirmation status to.

It may be best for you to phone in and let a tech show you this. If you have the insurance plan set up as a PPO plan type, simply receive the claim with no payment and do not enter a write off. The balance (your entire office fee) will go to the patient.

Most likely, the procedure code that you are using is not in a benefit category, so Open Dental cannot properly calculate the estimate. This is correct. You will need to re-categorize that procedure code in Setup > Insurance Categories, and yes it is system wide if you make that change.

That is correct. Primary insurance payment information is transferred electronically when sending in a secondary claim. It doesn't need to show when you print the claim because the EOB would be mailed along with it.

You can change the claim form from within a newly created claim. Look for a list at the top of the claim form, in the middle. (Second list from the top, I believe)

When you create statements, there are two areas to add messages. One is in the upper left, called "Dunning Messages". You can create a message in plain font, and also one is bold. The second area is at the bottom, on the right. This message will appear on all statements.

There is no separate password for Call Fire, at least that would be used with Open Dental. The key is essentially a user ID and password combined.

They would need the top most "Setup" enabled. You can disable everything else except Auto/Quick Note Edit if you would like.

That scenario seems like it would work well for you. I recommend setting the boot options to prompt for the OS you want, rather than booting to the last used.

The 'edit all' only works on procedure codes. It is used to change the date of multiple procedures at one time (perhaps do to a charting error). Select the procedures by ctrl-clicking on each of them, right-click 'edit all', and type the new date.

Tabby, I spoke with our programmers regarding this issue. There is currently no method of doing this in Open Dental. This type of functionality would need to be suggested in a feature request. From the Help menu in Open Dental, go to 'Request Features' and you can add it there.

Currently, the columns in that list cannot be re-sized. A solution for this is feature request #2358, which will make the descriptions "wrap". This has been labeled as a high-priority request, and will be worked on as quickly as possible.

By using the "Other Benefits" section, you are giving Open Dental an exception to the rule. Therefore, it ignores the rule completely when it comes to code D0220.
