I'm interested in getting answers to the following Q's regarding electronic eligibility:

• Can I customize how Open Dental interprets a 271? Can I add/subtract Open Dental fields for the data to map into?

• What Open Dental fields are available to be populated by a 271? Is it possible to populate the "Plan Note" or Subscriber Information "Note"?

Essentially what I'm asking is... If a Payer provided a complete 271 return with all of the info I could possibly need, how can I get Open Dental to make sense of the data? And what are all of the options for where the data can be placed?

Currently, the only customization option is choosing whether the carrier sends the patient responsibility or the insurance portion for coinsurance benefits. Open dental fields cannot be added or subtracted for the data to map to. The only data that can be imported is benefit information that can be interpreted as a benefit in Open Dental.
