Wondered if there were any French Canadian users interested in sharing our translations? I've started one, it's still a work in progress, neither complete nor final. I'm still debating on some on the name of some of the functions, but I'm just getting the ball rolling to see if there's any interest.

There ain't much options available for us, and the laws requires our application to be translated. So here we are, if you want to discuss how we should translate CommLog or if you simply want to drop your own translation file, you're more than welcome to do so !

I would be very interested in adding this to our list of available translations once there is a "finalized" list.

I went ahead and uploaded this latest version to our server so that users have a decent starting point (better than nothing).
Thank you so much for sharing what you have!

I've updated the Canadian French translation, with a lot more stuff added. I've also uploaded a base definition and displayfield tables to help anyone who wants to test the software in french.

Here's a quick lexicon to see how I decided to translate the main jargon, and maybe gets a discussion going about these choices.

I've also created the official ACDQ medical history form, see the ACDQ_Forms.zip file. It's not easy to use due to the multiple small signature fields, but it's a start. I'll try to get my hand on a tablet to see if we should make the whole thing bigger.

So here we are. I'm planning to finish the translation by the end of May. Then I'm going to try a conversion from Dentitek, one of the 2 major dental software used in Quebec. If anyone wants to pitch in with ideas or better translations, feel free to share your thoughts!

edit : changing OP post title to fr-CA locale

Korack, did you have any success with your test migration from Dentitek?

We are also considering moving from Dentitek to OpenDental as soon as RAMQ and ACDQ are supported.

Thanks

Hello SGagne,

we are using the new RAMQ FactureAct besides Open Dental (few % of total prod.)

Remaining insurance transmission through iTrans (included in CDA membership), which is very reliable.

good luck

We're still using Dentitek at the office, we just paid the yearly support cost so the move is kind of postponed as I haven't had the time to work on the translation and to complete it.

If you call Open Dental though I'm pretty sure they'd be able to extract the data themselves, I've got a way in the DB if they need help with it, I'll be glad to assist !

And as Gitter said, the RAMQ portal on their website works very well, it's not ideal as it's not integrated like Dentitek does, but it gets the job done easily.
