I have OD terminal running on a PC with a 17" LCD monitor. I've noticed that if I drag the mouse near the bottom of the screen and click, the taskbar will appear, which allows me (and patients) to access the desktop, launch IE or even look at the whole appointment book in OD.
The windows version is XP Home Edition, if that matters. Version of OD is 5.5.9

It's been about a year since I tested it. At that time I was not able to get any combination of keystrokes or mouse movements to show the regular schedule. So you really are able to see the schedule underneath? I suggest launching the info terminal from some screen that has no private information on it. Regardless of what the user is able to see, I'm quite certain that they will not be able to interact with any other OD screen until the terminal is closed.

Yeah, they are able to get underneath it somehow. I'll have to film it with a camcorder because there's no way to start a desktop recorder.
I have a feeling it doesn't happen with anything less than a 17" monitor.

Is your screen resolution exactly 1024x768? If not then it won't work. It's not the size of the monitor that's important, but the screen resolution.

Yes, it is.
What should the res be?
