The engineer who heads this up just walked in. Let me grab him a cup of coffee and see what he has to say :)

Does the immortal socket connection have anything to do with Jordan's Cryo research? :D

Ha! Good one.
I am going to have a member of the eservices team give you a call. You are set to use proxy, however your heartbeat is coming from the old style listener. We'd like to take a look.
Are you in the office?

Yes, but don't tell any of my patients.

We'll have a patch released soon so that this issue will not happen in the future for other customers (in case someone finds themselves at this thread looking for a solution to the error). It will be a fix on our end that will not require being above any particular version of Open Dental.

Hmm... Interesting. I just got the same error. I'm on a latest stable version, but not the latest patch.

We'll take a look at things on our end because that is where the root of this error occurs. Technically the version of Open Dental that you as a customer are on shouldn't matter but I could be wrong (we've been making lots of updates lately). We may end up needing more information from you to further troubleshoot.

Did you try simply restarting the eConnector service? If that doesn't work, can you please PM me the entire message, including the actual RegistrationKeyNum? Also, your registration key would be helpful.

Turns out the Windows computer that hosts the service was hung up. It was not down, but hung up. I had to hard reset it and the connection came to normal after restart.

Very likely a result of this weeks windows update. Whenever update Tuesday rolls around, it routinely breaks the Vixin bridge and then after several restarts, it settles out.

question on the patient portal?

do you have to set up a username for each individual patient or can a guarantor have access to everone in a family?

and if you have to split the accounts can you split the patient portals access?

Technically guarantors have access to other patient accounts but only certain things like Web Mail. They won't see images of the other patients underneath them for example but they will see and can reply to Web Mail "on behalf" of the other patients that they are a guarantor to.

I don't understand what "splitting the accounts" means, can you be more specific?

@enamelrod
For each patient that needs access to the Patient Portal, they will need to be granted access individually. The guarantor of an account will, by default, have full access to the family members information and account details in the portal, but there are preferences that you can change so other people can be considered an "Authorized Representative" for family members or other patients in the database. We have some links on our Patient Portal page that might prove useful to you. You can reference the "Use" section for information on this subject.
