XDR for backup purposes

Hi there,
I'm backing up a copy of our office data in our home computer. So far I was able to back up and retrieve the data but not the xray images. We use XDR bridged to OD.
How can I be able to open the xrays in my home computer?
It's only trough a full XDR download in my home computer that this can be done?

You won't be able to open up XDR to view your backup X-rays since the database itself contains the software license...most likely won't even be possible even if you pay for another license to install it at home, again---different databases. What you need to do is open an RDP/VNC connection to your office computer. Your XDR backup is useful only when your computer server goes down, then you can copy over the XDR database/images and then reinstall XDR.

yep... XDR runs separately from OD ... different program, different license, different database. the few times i need to a see an xray remotely, i use RDP and deal with the agony.

RDP over Hamachi secure VPN on a windows 8 machine works very nicely. Remote Desktop Protocol is much faster on windows 8 than windows 7.

You can install XDR on your home computer (they give up to like 10 licenses). Once a week we take a backup from the office and restore to the home computer (just like OD). Now you can view all images at home without any issues. We just upgraded to the mySQL version of XDR and they require you to update the database at home once every 10 days or they have to reset something. Total time to install at home and convert took only 20-30 mins. They did everything remotely and it went very well.
