I know I have seen the answer by Jordan somewhere, either here or on DT, however, how do you chart an implant?

I use the procedure code D6010. In the procedure list I have that procedure set to paint = implant; treatment area = tooth; and over-ride color set to grey (because it looks better).

For implant crowns I use the code D6059 with paint = crown light and treatment area = tooth.

When you place both procedure in the chart for the implant tooth it looks great!

It does look great!!

One more question.

We have a treatment plan for a patient, it includes that following:

Implants on 7,9, & 11 Referred for implants.

We will place crowns on 7-11, with 8 & 10 being bridge abutments.

How would you treatment plan this & with what codes? Also, there is a possibility (50%) that the specialist will place the abutments on the implants, so we would only need to place the crowns.

Thanks for anyones help.

Please tell me you are not splinting natural teeth to implants.

That said,

#7 D6010 Surgical placement of implant body Referred Out
#7 D6056 Prefabricated abutment, includes placement Referred Out
#7 D6059 Abutment Supported HN PFM Treatment Planned

Copy above for #9 and 11

#8 D6750 PFM HN Abutment Treatment Planned
#10 D6750 PFM HN Abutment Treatment Planned

Question:
Why are you splinting this case?

No we are not splinting natural teeth to implants. The patient has been referred to a periodontist for perio related problems, right before her first appt w/periodontist, she broke #11 off below gumline. The periodontist then determined that #'s 8,9,&10 had class three mobility, 7 was missing. The options were given, 1) Partial 2) Complete 3) Implants.

Implants were choosen.

Thanks for you help with the treatment plan and codes.

I'm still confused.

You wrote:

Are you sure you don't mean #8 and 10 are pontics?

I'm glad you aren't confused.

Cheers!!!

Sorry for the confusion, they are indeed pontics.
