I want to be able to save my Daily Payments reports as pdf files, rather than printing them every day. When I try the 'Save as PDF' button at top of report screen, I get error box "not functional yet". If I try printing the report to Adobe PDF converter, I get error box "printer not available". However, I am able to use this process for my Daily Production and Income report so that I can save it as a pdf file.

Please advise if there is a way to save the Daily Payments report rather than using paper to print it out.

No, that never got implemented. Ran out of time and moved on to other things. You could vote for it in the feature requests. However, I am not sure why would would get an error at the Adobe PDF converter. Have you tried CutePDF, cutepdf.com? That works well for us.
