eclaims vs. date sent bug?

Post by apexlocator »

I've noticed that when I send an eclaim and look at the claim later, the "date sent" only reflects the date the claim was created, not sent. this is not an issue when printing claims though. I'm using version 5.0.15.

It is implied that it is actually sent later that same day, or possibly the next day. It's close enough. We are moving towards real time claims instead of batches. So this will be less confusing in the future.

I actually prefer to send the claims in a batch at the end of the day than sending after each patient. The advantage is that the office manager can have a look at the claims before they're sent and make corrections. Nevertheless, I think in the future when we can get instantaneous responses from all carriers it would be a good idea to send individual claims after each patient visit. I just don't see any advantage as it is now, where we usually have to wait till the next day to get a response from some carriers.

You will get instant responses from some carriers. And the number of carriers supporting real time claims grows every day.

I wish it were more accurate as some offices dont have and a person to handle/send out claims except once a week (as in my case with my OM/wife). I know some eclaims are easy and quick to send out (ie fillings), but others that require e-attachments dont get sent out until a few days later.

As much as i would like everything to be right away, I want to put a plug to still have the option of batch method of sending.
We have a double check at the end of the day to make sure what is in the computer is actually what we did and therefore don't usually actually send claims until after that check. This prevents sending of things with incorrect fees, incorrect procedures, etc. that we were unable to change at the exact time of appointment when the work was changed during the appt. If everyone was perfect in entry then instant sending would work great for us, but unfortunately, we find we are not perfect! :p

Of course. Batch processing will always remain an option. Real time processing will be an additional option, not a replacement. Batch processing will use FTP, while real time will use web services.
