Completed procedures bug 17.4.7b (SOLVED)

Post by wjstarck » Wed Jan 03, 2018 8:56 am

When procedures are set complete in the Appointment book module in 17.4.7b, the resolution of the program will change to a very high resolution that is impossible to work with, at least on my Dell XPS 13 laptop, The appointment book cannot be interacted with.

Thanks

When you say procedures are set complete, do you mean when appointments are set complete?
When you say Appointment book module, do you mean the Appointments module? http://www.opendental.com/manual/appointments.html

Because you can only set appointments complete from that module (unlike in the Chart module) which will inadvertently set procedures complete. Did I translate you correctly?

Yes, Appointments, sorry. Appointment book is a vestigial organ from my Dentrix days <<shudder>>. I really need to have that darn thing cut off one of these days

I should probably also mention that my resolution is set to 3200 x 1800 and my scaling is set to 200% (default is 250% which makes everything way too small and difficult to read)

Sounds like someone got a 4K monitor for Christmas. Is this the case?

I slammed my monitors to 200% scaling and it didn't have the problem you described. My monitor / video card combination can't get to a resolution that high so I can't determine if that is the problem (even though I doubt it).

Here's that screenshot:

https://imgur.com/a/TnWFV

To reproduce:
1) Double click in the Appointments module to create a new appt
2) Add treatment planned procedures to the appointment
3) Click 'OK' which will return you to the mangled appointment book

Incidentally, not sure if this helps, but I also notice the same behavior when I try to run OD in the VS 2015 debugger - the Appointment module always looks that way

Just upgraded to 17.4.12.

Open Dental is scaled properly until I get to the login window. It's at that point now that the scaling gets munged as described above

UPDATE:

Setting the Graphics to OpenGL, Hardware Acceleration (checked), Use Double Buffering (unchecked), Show All Formats (unchecked), Format 3 has fixed the problem.

Thanks to Barry in OD Support and the Engineers for their hard work in getting me up and running again. :D

UPDATE 2:

Well, that works as long as I don't reboot  . So for now the workaround would be

1) Set settings as above. My resolution had to be set to 1024 x 768, Scaling 100%
2) SIgn out and sign back in. OD works, but resolution will give you a headache
3) Set resolution back up to highest (in my case 3200 x1800) and scaling to where everything looks nice (in my case 200%). This will stick as long as you don't reboot. If you reboot you will have to repeat steps 1-3 above

HTH

Regarding the scaling issues, an attempted fix has been committed to 17.4.25.
