DrTech's Plugin

Post by drtech » Wed Oct 10, 2012 8:21 pm

I have the new plugin ready for those using OD 12.3.x and 12.4.x

I am using 12.4.7 currently and works great...I briefly tested 12.3.x on my test machine and it seemed to work fine, but I skipped that version in my office, so any testers would be appreciated.

After using it for a couple of day, I found a few bugs with statement balances on statements. I fixed those, fully implemented Installment plans to show monthly payment agreements on statements and added another option to show in the custom text option on the statements

Current version is 1.5.1

Yes, you are right. Every time the applicable code changes in the main open dental program, I have to make changes too in my plugin to match. There is no way around that when going from version to version. I wish I could make it seamless, but you have do have to install a new version of the plugin usually with each major version of OD upgrade.

Version 1.6.0 for OD v13.1.0 will work if the proper plugin hook has been added to the SVN requested a few weeks ago. I have been on vacation, so I have not actually retested this with public code, only with my code a few weeks ago.

Which Version of the Plugin would you recommend for Version 12.4.69? V 1.5.3 is crashing and I can't find the download link to 1.6.1 to try it. Thanks!

I will have to spend a little time and finish the 1.6.x version to work with the stock code (only works with my modified code currently) before I post the link. You may be out of luck with v 12.4.x. I haven't used that version in about 6 months and have not updated it. It is probably an easy fix, but I will need to look at it.

Thanks Again! I'm not sure if I'm the only other one that uses your Plugin, but it is very helpful, especially for ortho offices. I didn't upgrade to 13.1 because at the time it still said Beta. It looks like 13.1 is done and 13.2 was released this week. I'm such a geek. I still get excited when a new version comes out.

I just updated the plugin on the website to version 1.6.2 that should work great now with version 13.1 OD which, as you said, is now out of beta and the production version. You can download that one now if you upgrade to OD 13.1.

Feature Request 2315 should take care of all of this. I just pledged $700 toward it. Look it up and see if you may pledge to it.

Using OD 13.2.27
Clicked on
V13.2.19(11/24/2013) OpenDentalGold(v13.2.19)
to download, and got

<<No Results Found
The page you requested could not be found. Try refining your search, or use the navigation above to locate the post.>>

So I installed the plugin for 13.1 instead.
It worked except every time I opened the chart module OD crashed.

Another interesting finding was that installing it on one workstation (Program Files\Opendental) enabled it on all workstations, even though the .dll was only on the one workstation. I assumed I would have to copy the .dll to each workstation. Guess not.

Our UpdateFileCopier program (which is the little box that shows up when updating workstations) allows other developers to include their dlls (plugins) with the "update". I like to hear it's being used correctly.

I have tested it with 14.2 now and the same version seems to work fine with 14.2 as well as 14.1 which is unusual, but that means there is very little core difference between the two Open Dental versions that usually cause issues. I am currently running 14.2.7 in my office as a beta test with Open Dental Gold.

I have a new version 14.1.14 posted on my website to fix the bug on some pts chart that had to do with Rx's and pt allergies, etc. I just tested it again and I am getting the address just fine on the statements. Are you sure you have it correctly setup in the normal Practice Setup window of OD? What version are you using and do the statements print with you address without the plugin installed?

...I have my address in the "Address" box and the "Billing Address" and "Pay To" address' are blank...maybe you have those boxes populated? I don't think my plugin handles those fields currently as I was not aware they even existed until looking at this today. I will see if I can incorporate those into the plugin.

I have tried both versions of OpenDentalGold (14 and 13). My OD version is 14.1.15. Without the plugin statements print fine; ODG 14 prints only numbers instead of address,; ODG 13 prints numbers on the first 2 lines and only the state correctly on the last line. No other errors encountered.

Thanks for the heads up, I will look into the code and try to see why it would be different for you than on my setup. Are you using a live or copy of a live database or the test trial version database?

I haven't had a chance to look at the plugin for a while, but It has been running for months no on OD 14.2.7 without any problems in my office. Try upgrading to 14.2 and you should be good.

Thanks for the wonderful opendental gold plugin. Has anyone tried it on 14.3? My tech guy installed it and when I try to open the options it says "Open Dental Gold is not available."

Any thoughts?

I am still running 14.2.7...so I have no idea if you can get it to work. The good news is I am going to update my OD very soon, so I will get it working with 14.3 and then 15.1 alpha soon...

Jay,
It looks like that error you were getting has to do with EHR. I don't use EHR and can't seem to build open it from the source currently, so I can't find the error yet.

OD Staff:
This is the error I am getting:
"C:\Shared Projects Subversion\EHR\EHR_14_3\EHR\xEHR.csproj : error : The project file could not be loaded. Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Shared Projects Subversion\EHR\EHR_14_3\EHR\xEHR.csproj'. C:\Shared Projects Subversion\EHR\EHR_14_3\EHR\xEHR.csproj"

Is this not testable by me or did it just not get included properly in the SVN source?

Also, I got an error that EHR.dll was not present when I tried to enable the feature. I assume this is because it could not be loaded and therefore wasn't built.

The EHR project is purposely left out of the public repository. However, 90% of EHR features are built into the regular software and are available for use without even enabling EHR.

You should not need to test anything inside the EHR.dll.

The EHR.dll is included with full USA versions of Open Dental. You can just copy and paste the EHR.dll from your Open Dental installation directory to your bin folder for debugging purposes.

ok, I will try to get the EHR.dll...maybe it wasn't copied to the right place then if it builds automatically or is included already...

I just remembered that it is included in the OpenDentalCustListener folder due to being required to run the Patient Portal

I just updated to 15.2.17 and I am getting the following error whenever I try to print a statement:
"Method not found: 'Void OpenDental.UI.ODGrid.EdnUpdate()'."

Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this error?

Seems like there is a mis-spelling and so it'll probably get fixed and backported.

sorry, the typo was mine. The actual error is:
Method Not Found: 'Void OpenDental.UI.ODGrid.EdnUpdate()'.
