Interesting - Dashboard DDS

Post by ray5100 »

The other day I saw this program: Dashboard DDS. Interesting and wondering if Open dental has something similar or might have it coming up?

I really like this. OD could make this available on a monthly subscription. I think it would be well received. What do you think?

Thank you for looking, Ray

I attempted to make something like this a few years ago as an add on to OD, but didn't have the time to finish it. I would love to have this kind of thing be a part of Open Dental...maybe I will work on a plugin to have some of these features again...

Looks very slick. Once I played with it a little, I found the animations very overbearing. Yes, we've been planning a dashboard for a long long time. I think we finally have the resources to tackle projects like this. My first instinct would be to write it in xaml to take advantage of dynamic layout, animation, and drilldown. I see no reason at all to charge an extra monthly fee for it since it would be built into Open Dental itself. One thing that may push a dashboard to get done soon is that multi-location enterprise users need a dashboard that shows all of their offices at once in a central location. They are lucrative customers to go after, and a dashboard would be a huge selling point. So we have very good reasons to be working on this.

A Dashboard would be an awesome addition to OD.

Would be absolutely wonderful to have a real-time visual on the guts of the practice. You can tone down the 'overbearing' graphics to bring them in line with the understated OD philosophy that we have grown to love.

Looks good product. But I think as a business owner I would like to know what are the discrepancies / disputes / open issues in my collection / AR rather than this -- I am sure Jordan can put together running bunch of queries to have this for us..

Our dashboard is done and is ready to be released with version 11.1.

The datapoints show numbers when hovered. As you can see, it only has 3 charts so far, but we may be able to get two more on there before version 11.1 is released. There are clearly a lot of enhancements that could be made. Clickthrough for detail is high on the priority list.

For those who are interested in the technical side of things, this was built from scratch in WPF (xaml), an entirely different language than we have previously used for all other windows. All windows from now on will be built in WPF, and we will also start moving old windows over to WPF. There are advantages in memory and performance, but most importantly, the code will easily transition into a Silverlight application for the web that we have been planning for years. In other words, this very same dashboard could run in a browser with very little work.
