Cannnot tab through new patient setup

Post by thatODguy » Wed Jan 09, 2008 12:49 pm

When I try to add a user and move through each field pressing the tab button, it skips fields Address2, City, ST

This is just a side note: When tabbing through the fields on the add insurance page, it does not go through linearly down but rather spiratically.

I would like to add this to the bug tracker but I cannot seem to find it.

If I recall, all versions have skipped fields when entering the Patient information in the Patient Module.

Is there some way of checking what is the tab order?

OK, I remember now. That tab order is entirely intentional. You are supposed to only enter the zipcode, and let the program fill in the City and State for you. And most people don't have an Address2. So, naturally, you will usually be jumping directly from Address to Zip.

This is why we don't let users add items to the bug tracker, because they are usually training issues rather than bugs.

Ah, but we don't use State or Zip Code here. Can it be customized to tab sequentially, Address, Address2, City? with a setting to choose which option?

In addition, we generally only use the last 7 digits of the phone number, so the current setting with parentheses appearing around the first 3 digits assuming a 10 digit number is problematic. Can this be made optional in Misc as well? Thanks.

For the phone numbers, it should only be doing that if your computer language settings are set to the United States. Isn't there some other country language combination that you could use that doesn't include the US? Then it will work when you restart OD.

 The two fields that I cannot tab to would be the Address 2 (which we use for apartment numbers) and the Title (mr. ms. dr.) which we use for statements.

Works fine for me. You are probably on an older version of Open Dental. Upgrade to at least the current stable version of v14.2.

Hopefully you aren't using a version of Open Dental as old as this thread
