Preview the Electronic Prescriptions module

Post by don » Thu Jun 13, 2013 2:44 am

Is there a way to take a look at the eRX module without registering for an Open Dental and NewCrop account yet, like maybe by using a test account?

The "eRx module" is literally a web browser to a NewCrop portal if you will. We can add some screen shots to the web site of what it will look like. Or are you wanting a testing environment for other purposes?

Got it. Screen shots would be great. I'm guessing this module gets activated once we sign up with Open Dental's support and you provide us with a registration key. What happens if we don't sign up? What's the process to get it working without the registration key (ex using the software without support / private label /reselling)? I reviewed the page for E-Prescriptions from the Open Dental site but I didn't fully understand what needs to be done for these cases.

Alright, screen shots are in the works. I'll post here as soon as we get them uploaded to our web site. As for eRx's for resellers, the steps to take are located at the very bottom of the Resellers page. http://opendental.com/manual/resellers.html

Effective March 27, 2015 it will be mandatory for New York State practitioners, excluding veterinarians, to issue electronic prescriptions for CONTROLLED and NON-CONTROLLED substances. See item 6. http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/pharm/pharmelectrans.htm

Is OD able to do this?

Open Dental cannot do controlled substances (EPCS) at this time. That is feature request #3000. I have added a note to the request that it will be required by March 27, 2015 for New York users.

I didn't help write it so I don't know the definite answer to this but I'm pretty sure it can:

I'm just going to make an assumption that you are referring to screenshots on this page?
http://www.opendental.com/manual/electr ... reate.html

If that is the case, then yes, to my knowledge that is the most recent screenshots of the eRx environment that runs in Internet Explorer.
We did not program it ourselves and it is internet based so it is very possible that the UI will change without our knowledge (potentially).
