Popup question

Post by wjstarck » Mon Apr 26, 2010 7:24 am

If I create a popup on a worstation, it will open fine on other workstations for any user, but on the original workstation, everything will be disabled but the OK button for users that don't have Setup or Security Admin privileges, but have privileges for all other Appointment module related items. Is that expected behavior? The staff tell me it's been going on for about a month.

Thanks.

No. I'm not seeing any security on popups. I'm also not seeing any place in the code where any controls on a popup would be disabled for any reason. What do you mean by "everything"? A screenshot might help.

Sure, I'll take one and post a link.

By everything, I mean the Permanently disabled checkbox, and the Cancel and Delete Buttons. So all that shows is the OK button.

OK, I see now.

One must click on the appointment, and then click Popup in the OD menu bar to edit:

Otherwise all you'll see is

But why wouldn't we always want the Edit Popup window to show?

i see what you mean...it doesn't let you edit it unless you click the "popup button" on the toolbar. I think that was done so it doesn't get edited unintentionally when it pops up and people try to get rid of it. You have to actually mean to edit it by clicking the button.

Right. Those are two entirely different windows with different purposes. They also used to look more different than they do. There are also plans for them to look more different in the future. For example, it you are editing, a popup, there might be a selection box for which module you want it to show in. But if you are not trying to edit a popup, it's better if all you see is an OK button. Less to think about.
