Diagnosis Codes

Post by kapricorn » Wed Jul 08, 2009 12:24 am

Is the new way of entering diagnostic codes going to be addressed soon for the the medical insurance form?

Unless I am missing something. There are no valid fields listed in the items on the edit claim forms under setup. The HCFA1500 requires the diagnostic codes for the proceedures on the form to be listed in box 21 then a corresponding number on column e of box 24 for each of the 6 transactions listed.
The new version has a drop down list that now allows you to choose a diagnosis however, it is not listing on the HCFA1500 anywhere any longer.

Upon further review, the current setup will not work for medical insurance submission. For medical submission each dental code cross referenced to a cpt code, or each cpt code must allow up to 4 diagnostic (ICD9) codes to be assigned. Each and all transactions on the claim must reference those ICD9 codes. The codes must be numeric and be like (278.01) these four codes per claim get listed in box 21 of the HCFA1500 and then a number or numbers seperated by commas go in column "E " of box 24 for each proceedure and the diagnostic code or codes that relate to that particular proceedure. Ex. 1,3

In version 6.4 it would allow for the codes to be sent to the form but only 1 ICD9 was allowed per proceedure. Now you cannot even enter an ICD9 in the definition file because it is asking for a 1to 2 letter abbreviation.

There are many offices that submit substantial medical claims and this will NOT work for them.

The original ICD-9 blank is there just like it always has been. Are you talking about the 4 boxes for the modifiers? ICD-9 codes don't go there. As for the claim form, nothing has changed. We have a downloadable 1500 that will show you. The 4 boxes at the top use "Diagnosis1", etc. Column E uses P1Diagnosis, P2Diagnosis, etc.

Our Bad !!!!

Sorry for wasting anyones time. I guess you just sometimes get stuck "Over Thinking" some things ....

What happened I beleive was that the update changed the setting to off in the medical insurance box under show features..

Anyhow all is good now.

Thanks

Oh, yes. I should have thought of that. Just trying to remove some clutter for ordinary users.
