Perio/Prophy on recall

Post by drtech » Sun Jan 25, 2009 8:57 am

Reading through the manual, I just noticed:
The Set Perio button lets you quickly toggle a prophy patient to a perio patient or back again. If the patient is a perio patient, you MUST set them as a perio patient by manually clicking this button. Just completing a perio procedure is not enough to trigger a perio recall. "Prophy" and "Perio" are mutually exclusive.
Before the rebuild a few versions ago, I had programed in a function to set what codes you want to auto set perio and then it would automatically set it when those procedures were completed...is this possible to reactivate? Thinking about it I can see where it would be a problem on re-synching recalls unless we add a new flag to disable synching those again if a perio pt was set back to prophy manually and you want it to stay that way. Is this the reason for manual only control?

In 6.4, both perio and prophy triggers act together to trigger either perio or prophy for the patient. It is still a manual click to "convert" someone to a perio recall. But I think it's very very close to what you are asking. Automation is complicated and always results in bugs. I prefer to automate in very small easily controlled steps. Much less likely to have a serious bug. Automating the switching of a patient to perio seems reasonable. But it also seems reasonable to ask the user to click a button. It's a very accessible button.
