Report Exception (Printer Exception)

Post by V Suite » Mon Jun 02, 2008 6:40 pm

I recently setup a new workstation, and tried to look at Reports on it, but once I clicked any type of report, OpenDental gave an exception without showing the report on the screen.

It turns out I had not set up any printer on the machine. Solution: I installed the network printer (attached to the server) using Control Panel (nothing needed to be done inside OpenDental). Upon selecting a report, OpenDental proceeded to show the report on the screen.

Perhaps OpenDental should check whether any printer is installed at all, and prompt for a printer to be installed if not.

Cheers.

Hi, is this scheduled for fixing? Or is it fixed already? Thanks.

We make the assumption that the user has at least one printer installed. In a perfect world, we would properly handle situations where the user has zero printers installed. But honestly, it's a low priority. Install a printer.
