Issues with new scanner

We just installed a new document scanner on one of our workstations. Randomly it will stop working in Open Dental. We get an error "Not Authorized. A user with the SecurityAdmin permission must grant you access for: Setup - Covers a wide variety of setup functions". If we log in as an admin, check test the scanner it will start working for the other users. What is also odd is that it will work for hours then stop working randomly. Any ideas?
Windows 7 machine.

Can you share your version of Open Dental along with the specific spot in the program that tells you that you are not authorized?
