No default medical clearinghouse defined

Post by teethdood » Tue Aug 11, 2015 5:44 pm

I just upgraded to 15.3.7
Default e-claim clearinghouse for dental is Renaissance. No clearinghouse for medical, as I don't bill medical.
When I go to create a primary dental claim, I get "No default medical clearinghouse defined"
When I go to Setup/Clearinghouses and set Default Medical clearinghouse to a fake one like Emdeon Medical (for me), I can create a dental claim like normal.

Why the sudden change requiring a fake medical clearinghouse?

I thought I would post this here just in case someone else has the same issue.

That's just because you have the Medical Insurance show feature turned on:
http://opendental.com/manual/showFeatures.html

Since that is on, Open Dental needs to be prepared to send medical claims. Prior to sending medical claims we will validate information on claims and in order to do that we need to know what type of e-claim format to validate against and we take that from your default medical insurance clearinghouse.
The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit.

Ah yes that makes sense.
I did enable the medical features to play around with and totally forgot about that.
Thank you Jason.
