New Install

Post by Ferg » Fri Mar 14, 2014 1:21 pm

I have a client who is interested in using OD in his practice. I have read through some of the threads and would like some advice on setting up the server. There will only be 3 workstations, I'm wondering if a PC with windows 7 can be used as the server of if a windows server is a better option. Also, I downloaded mysql 5.6.16, but after some review, is this version supported, or do I need a previous version?

Read this page for computer requirements.

You shouldn't need to download mysql. I believe the installer handles getting mysql installed. Windows 7 should be fine for the server with 3 workstations.

Just one of the computers running windows 7 or 8 will be fine with that small of a setup. No need for a specialized server.

MySQL v5.6 is not supported. If you end up having problems and we find out that MySQL 5.6 is the cause we will simply tell you to downgrade your MySQL to v5.5 which is prepackaged with our installer like bpcomp mentioned above.
The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit.
