No longer able to update databases with the trial version
What does "No longer able to update databases with the trial version" mean ? Please elaborate wth consequences . Thanks!
Re: No longer able to update databases with the trial versio
It's simply to keep people from accidentally connecting up to their live database with a trial version and updating (more like downgrading because of trial limitations) the whole office to the trial edition.
Example: You buy a pretty new laptop at home but aren't at the office to grab the Setup.exe from your OpenDentImages share. So you download our trial and get everything up and ready to go. Monday rolls around and you bring your laptop to work, connect up to the office but what you didn't think about was that your laptop is now at v13.1.X (trial ed.) and your office is still back at v12.4.X (full ed.). After connecting and smashing through as many warnings as possible without reading, you update the office. Then your first new patient little Timmy shows up and you realize you accidentally updated the office to the trial edition when you go to add little Timmy to Open Dental and it tells you there is a 30 patient limit.
We've been getting that call more and more. So from now on, we simply won't allow trial editions to update databases.

The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit.

tempdash
Does anyone know what table tempdash DOES. it has patient names and first visit date. THANKS
Re: No longer able to update databases with the trial versio
The tempdash tables are created when running Dashboard Reports. Open Dental will usually delete them as soon it is done with the dashboard queries, but if Open Dental closed down in the middle of running the report, then the tempdash table wouldn't get deleted. Having extra tempdash tables lying around in your database definitely won't hurt anything, but if it really bothers you, you can drop the table (you might want to do it after hours just in case someone is actually running a Dashboard Report and is using the tempdash table).
