Problem in Images module when importing photos

Post by wjstarck » Wed Dec 19, 2007 9:42 am

Whenever I import a picture from my digital camera, the import appears to go OK, i.e., I select patient photos from the drop down list and it puts the photo in the Patient Pictures folder. However, when I leave the module, the photo gets moved to the first folder on the list, which for us is Anesthetic Records folder (which we created Setup > Definitions > Image Categories) .

Anyone know why?

hum..sounds similar to something I just discovered.

I have a button to in the image module that is supposed to 1) copy a standard file I have to a pt's image folder, and then 2) open the file for editing. I just figured out with v 5.4 that the file ends up one folder up in the directory tree (like the "E" folder) instead of the pt's folder.

haven't looked at the code yet, but something must be different pt's folder variable in OD...

Bill, which specific version? I've tried to duplicate it and cannot. You used the import button, right? Is it repeatable? Any more detail you can give?

5.4.11 - yes, I'm using the import button, and it happens every time I import. I've noticed that OD will initially show the image placed in the first folder at the top of the list, then the window will open wherein I select what type of image (I select patient Photo) and what folder I want it placed in (I select Patient pictures).

Once I OK out of this dialog box, the Image will now be in Patient pictures. If I move to the Appointment Book (or any other module), the picture will not show in the Appointment Book, so I have to go back in to Images module. It will have been moved to the first folder on the list, so I have to manually drag it back to the Patient pictures folder. After I do this, it works fine.

HTH, anything I left out that may be of help?

PS: I tried to upgrade to a higher version today, but OD gives me an SQL Server not found error

Oh, OS is Vista Business on an HP Pavilion. Video card is Nvidia if that matters.

I notice that if I am still in the Images module, and after I have assigned the image to the Patient Pictures folder, if I grab the image with the mouse and drop it on the Patient pictures folder (it's already there, of course), it works as expected.

I can make a video and post it on YouTube if you want - let me know....

Any chance you could upgrade to 5.4.19 and try again? I don't see a specific fix listed, but we need to be sure we're testing the right version.

I upgraded to 5.5.4b, and the problem still exists.

Thanks,

Jordan -

I noticed that if I manually click on the Patient Pictures folder *before* I do the import, everything works as expected. The folder at the top of the list is selected by default, and thus the images get put there automagically methinks...

That last hint helps. I'll look into it this weekend.

I still can't duplicate it. You must be doing something different than me or your settings are different. I've been trying for half an hour every possible way I can think, but I just can't get it to misbehave. I'm going to have to see your screen.

PS. Actually You Tube will kill the resolution of the video... If you need a place to upload it let me know, I can throw it on DentalCom or just put it on RapidShare???

Its happening to me to Bill! I just did what you said and my image ended up in the Credi Approval category instead of Patient Pictures...

Newest from SVN plus those changes in my code... Hmmm....

When I import a picture,it doesnt end up in the correct category, it ends up in the top category without a description showing.. unless I say go to appoiontments and then back to the images... Then it will be in the right category showing a description... without me ever manually changing the category on my own to fix the prob...

Jordan-

I sent you a screen capture .avi this morning that shows the problem I am having. Let me know if that shows it clearly enough...

Jordan-

It does work properly if I don't rotate the image after it is imported.
