Email Setup Link

Post by drfredc » Fri Mar 25, 2011 8:12 am

How do you set up a button in OD that you can use to add a start up button for your email program on the OD button bar when some workstations are running XP and some running W7?

The problem is XP has programs using the "Program files" folder, while W7 uses "Program Files (X86)" folder for programs. So there's no apparent way to set the setup link to choose between file location based upon OS. Is there some other Windows link to the default email program one can use instead of a specific folder and file?

Thanks. I thought of trying to link to a shortcut on the desktop for all the clinic computers, but when I tried setting it up on a W7 computer, somehow W7 doesn't provide the shortcut's desktop file name, but the link to the x86 folder, which isn't helpful.

Putting the shortcut in the Program Files folder is a nice work around kludge, especially since it provides a customizable local solution for a globalize program launch system.
