Beta Testing of virtual office

Post by Roy Bloom » Sun Feb 27, 2011 6:02 pm

Well, besides looking like a homeless man again, we finally got OD to work over the internet with workstations in Spring Texas and San Antonio Texas; information placed by the San Antonio workstation was instantly available on the Spring workstation. The server was in the garage. The only oddity was the Anesthesia Module would not work on one of the workstations. I found that one of the workstations was running 32 bit XP Pro and looking at the update, it showed it would not work with a 32 bit system. As this was just a beta test I am not concerned. I am completely portable and provide IV sedation and Oral Surgery services. I am getting a little old to lift 3-4 sets of surgical setups, IV setups, saline, electric surgical units O2 with demand valve and all the meds etc. By the end of the summer I want to crawl into a hole and not come out for a month. The summer rush of third molar extractions is brutal. I decided that the best way to build my practice was by hiring younger associates with a buyin potential. Being paperless will make that more efficient. Stay tuned. We are just starting with new technology.

Why would I do that? Mostly I try to use very little of OD. The majority of my business model is not supported by OD. It is not OD's responsibility to cater to a unique business model. They would not make money serving a small interest of practitioners. Also, found out that the SA workstation did show the Anesthesia Module and it was running 32bit Win7. May have been an XP pro issue. Will not matter in April as everyone will have win7 pro.
