New Account/writeoff/ins

Post by drtech » Mon Oct 08, 2007 4:19 pm

I am having a difficult time figuring out how the new write off is working in the account screen. Using 5.3.3 now...

Jordan,
So, as far as I can tell the write-offs no longer show in the adjustment column right? The problem is now all or our patients with previous write-offs patients have balances in the individual patient balance. I think the overall patient balance is right, but I don't know for sure.
Do you have a plan to place the write-off back in with another column or with the ins claim or what is the plan for this?

is this in 5.3.4 addressing this or something else?
"Writeoffs were not affecting calculated provider balances."

Need some help figuring this out...

I have a patient now I am looking at with only one family member...so it is easier to see. The family balance and patient balance in this case are the same (only one person i guess) but the balance in the grid column still says like $340 ( I guess this is the amt we have written off over time)

Goodness, don't mess around with 5.3.3 when 5.3.7 is available. I don't even want to talk about it unles you are on the most recent version.

So let me get this straight. Writeoffs are not showing in the Adjustment column of the Account module? I specifically remember adding writeoffs to the adjustment column on individual procedures. Maybe these writeoffs are ones that are not attached to individual procedures. Is that the case? Are the 3 main balances in the Account module matching or are they different?

i will post this example:
$100tx
$25 ins payment
$25 writeoff

$50 shows in family balance (correct)
$75 shows in grid (wrong)

i thought the pt balace on the right side there next to the names was wrong on my real patients, but it looks like that is ok.

so, yes I think the problem is writeoffs are not showing in the adj column

Thanks for the pictures. I think we're getting closer, but I still can't duplicate it. This is what mine looks like:

So now I'm trying to figure out what's different between our two setups. I will be reviewing the code in that area to try to spot the problem as well.

I have balances don't subtract ins estimates checked and you don't so that may be the problem there

drtech:
off topic, but is your CC# and exp date fields in the above ACCOUNT MODULE screenshot in everyone's 5.3.x or just yours??!!? i LOVE IT!
is this an area that talks to xcharge or jsut for office use/reference?
i'd also want a field for CVV.

It's available in everyone's 5.3. You turn it on from Setup, Misc. Yes, it passes the data to X-Charge. But credit card numbers should not technically be stored unencrypted in the database. So if you turn it on, the liability associated with the unencrypted numbers is totally up to you. I would say it's unacceptable unless you have extra physical security, a way to physically lock down your server hard drive at night. For this reason, we do not advertise it as a feature, nor do we encourage its use.
