Insurance fee's Maintenance

Post by kapricorn » Wed Apr 21, 2010 8:07 am

It is too difficult to maintain fees for an insurance plan if you are using the co-pay amounts or allowed fee schedules. I know this is a feature request but it is so important to the basic smooth operation of the program that I feel it needs to be looked at as a feature chosen by OD to incorporate.

It would make sense to have a button on the ins plan screen for the patient that says Update Fees and have a table come up that fills in with the fee schedule, allowed schedule, and co-pay schedule. It would need to list every procedure code and the associated fees from the amounts chosen on the plan screen. These fields would also need to allow for editing. A last updated date should also be added to the fee schedules so you can tell if you are dealing with a recent updated amount or one that is five years old.

This is an area in the program that is very difficult to work with in comparison to the competitors.

Nobody has ever suggested that specific request.

Are you suggesting that the last updated date be at the fee level or at the fee schedule level?

From what we see if you have a large amount of plans that have copays and allowed fee schedules things get very confusing and complicated. I believe more people would use the insurance extimation and use it with more accuracy if it were easier to see the allowed and copay tables for the plan and make modifications.

The date would be nice to see on the allowed and copays. It would be nice to see when the allowed fee or copay that you are working with was last updated. It would give an indication of whether you need to look further into the estimate or if it is fairly up to date.

We have offices coming off of Soft"""" that relied on and used the bluebook feature heavily and after moving to Open Dental they ARE able to do everything that they used to be able to do plus more. However, it is not as easy nor straight forward.

Yes, but at the fee level or the fee schedule level?

To work it would have to be at the fee level. it would need to be an additional field on the fees table. Ex. Each time a co-pay or fee or allowed is updated the field would also be updated with the current date.
