Staying Logged on

Post by drtech » Fri Nov 20, 2009 12:16 pm

I am having trouble staying logged on to this forum. In Firefox 3.5.5 i can't even log in (under windows 7) and with IE the sessions logs in, but only while that tab is open. It is occuring on multiple computers. Anyone else having this problem?

Yes some other users have been having the same problem. The reason is the migration from 70.90.133.65 to opendentalsoft.com as the domain. There's an option at the bottom of the forum to delete all cookies. Maybe try that? Maybe in Internet Options, privacy tab, change it to the default level? The fact that you are using Windows 7 might have something to do with it. Can you add opendentalsoft to your allowed websites in the privacy tab? Let us know if you find something that works. Do you ever restart your computer?

I find that it stays logged in on my Windows XP computers, but not in my Vista computers. I have thenm set up exactly the same. The only difference is that Vista has an "enable protected mode" option in the internet security options.

I also have "enable protected mode" turned on and it's working fine on Vista. On the security tab, I know I'm using default settings because my Default button is disabled. The Default button in my privacy tab is also disabled. Explorer version 8.0.

I also have IE 8. I tried setting everything in the security tab and the privacy tab to default and it didn't solve the problem. I then went into the advanced tab and tried the reset button to bring all of Internet explorer's settings back to their original defaults. That didn't work either.
Jordan, do you have Opendentalsoft.com in your Internet zone or in your truted sites zone in the security tab?

BINGO!!!
I found the problem. I had the opendental forum on my favorites menu and it would take me to http://70.90.133.65 instead of the new server address at opendentalsoft.com. To fix the problem just delete the old open dental forum entry in the favorites menu and enter the forum through the main open dental web page. Then make a new favorites entry. Sorry for the mess, Jordan. I hope I didn't make you work overtime!

that was it! I had a shortcut to the old direct ip address and I just imported them all to my new systems. Switched my link to the opendentalsoft.com/forum and now it works fine.

No, that's great to know. I didn't suggest that here because we had one customer who called in who swore they were using the link directly from our main page and it wasn't working. So I figured we had ruled that out as the problem.
