Flash Drive Problem

Post by savvy » Tue May 27, 2008 9:02 pm

This issue started occurring about one month ago.
It is not OD specific.
I use a Sandisk 4 GB flash drive.
The device is partitioned out of the box as 2 drives w/ U3 installed.
In the past, I would insert the card into a USB port, the card would light up, the Sandisk U3 program would begin to load onto the computer.
A U3 icon would appear next to the clock.
My Computer would recognize the card as having two drives (ie: L and M)
Any backed up files would be placed on drive M.
When done, I click on the U3 icon next to the clock.
Then click, eject.
Moments later the light on the card would go out and a message would appear stating it was ok to remove the card.

The flash card works fine on all my computers EXCEPT THE SERVER.

Now, when I place the card in the server, My Computer does not recognize it until I reboot.
Once I reboot, the card lights up.
U3 does not load.
I can back up to the drive, but the only way to eject is to use the "eject hardware" icon.
Once that is done, the light remains lit, a message appears stating that it is OK to remove drive.

At this point, ALL MY USB PORTS ARE TURNED OFF.
The only way to turn them on is to reboot.

Any one got a clue as to what is going on?

The server is a Dell Dimension 5150 P4 with 2gb of RAM

Cheers!!
