Outgoing email

Post by Roy Bloom » Thu May 08, 2008 6:15 am

Well, the relaying is not allowed in OD email.....at least as far as I can tell. So, I used my LAN at the office SMTP. It worked well. Perhaps I will have to use the other SMTP when the Verizon Card is inserted. I use the card offsite and do most TX plans at the office I have at home. Is there a way to have user authentication in OD email setup as there is in Outlook?

Do you mean SPA (Secure Password Authentication)? Because we already support ordinary user authentication. If so, I honestly don't know when that will happen. This is the first request we have had for it. Handling incoming email, and all the complexity associated with that is likely to be a higher priority.

mail relay has nothing to do with OD it is with your service provider (ISP) doesn't allow relay which mean you have to use SMTP server from your service provider not from your email account.

Example your internet (ISP is Sprint) smtp.sprint.com and your email account is smtp.yourcompany.com you have to use smtp.sprint.com and not smtp.yourcompany.com since sprint doesn't allow relay (relay mean you use sprint and relay to your email)

Well no, in outlook there is a section under tools, accounts, more settings which says my my outgoing server requires authentication. It is there I place my cards modem # and password. Works all the time. It is set up the same for both accounts no matter if I am using my home LAN or mobile card. I will test the mobile card latter and see if it works the way I have it set up. Hey it may and if it does that is all that matters. I like the idea of being able to receive mail in OD as then I could possibly template incoming so that I could import all info from other offices to open a new patient account.

Hi Jordan, no I do not mean SPA. That is in another box. Just outgoing SMTP requires authentication. Tools email accounts, internet email settings, more settings, outgoing server, check the box that has my SMTP requires authentication, log on using username(my modem #) password.

I do not check the SPA box.

OK, right. If you put a username and password in the OD email setup, that's exactly the same as checking the box in Outlook that says outgoing server requires authentication. We do support that feature.
