Question: How do you disable saving statements?

Just curious how you disable the new feature which saves all statements in images in 5.614?

I can fully understand why some practices would want this feature
BUT, I find that

1) it clutters the images directory
2) its a waste of storage space, and given USB stick sizes etc it becomes annoying
3) we can clearly see in the accounts section what the bills have been, and using the statement options can print any date/ range of dates, so why do we need it?

Surely it would be easy to disable?

We found many times before we wanted to see exactly what was printed for a patient because you don't know for sure that procedures or payments were in fact included on a particular statement, they could have been added/deleted after it was printed. This way you can see what they actually got if there is a question. Yes it does take up some room, be we love it!

Consider putting your database backup on the USB stick, and the images folder on a removable harddrive. I see what you mean about the clutter. Maybe we should name the files more distinctively so that you can ignore them easier.

The best thing is to have someone set up and rsync backup system for you. (It can be with Linux or Windows). The way it works is that it backups up everything to another computer in your office and/or to a remote computer over the internet quickly and securely. I have mine set up so I get a full, accurate backup every night after work to my home computer. That way we are completely protected in case of theft or fire and i don't even have to mess with a portable hard drive or USB system!

Look into DeltaCopy if you have windows only (rsync for windows)

(Rsync is very efficient in that it only transfers the changed data, instead of everything, but you still get a complete backup...that is how it works well over the internet and is so much easier than flash drives or portable hard drives) It takes a little know how to set it up, but once it going, you never have to worry about it again.

I'm assuming you're using rsync with linux as it looks like the front end for windows is no longer supported. Sounds like something I'd be interested in, but I have VERY limited experience compiling from source code and about the same experience working with linux. Do you know of any other software that does something similar and is more suited for us windows users?

I've been using dsynchronize to backup all of my info at home, I think I'll try that for backup and see how it goes.

yes, I have linux servers set up and do use them for my office system. However I am using the windows version on a few of my relative's computers to keep them backed up and it seems to be working fine. I don't know if they are still updating the windows version (deltacopy), but it does work on XP, don't know about Vista.
