Updating to latest version?

My SOP is to not update software on the network unless the users are having problems or the office wants/needs some new feature or if there is a serious security vulnerability found, i.e. don't fix what isn't broken.

What is OD's stance on updates? It seems that OD wants clients to update every time there is a new version but that opens the door for new bugs or problems to be introduced and new instabilities possible.

I do not like the risk associated with constant updates if they aren't strictly necessary, what does the general OD community do?
