Filing Code - where used?

At the bottom of the Insurance Plan Information section, below the Other Fee Schedules, there's a dropdown list named Filing Type. Can someone tell me what this is used for? I didn't find any information about it in the user manual or on this forum. Thanks!

It's used in electronic claims. Although almost all go out with "commercial insurance" there are a few insurance plans that use BCBS (Blue Cross Blue Shield). There's probably other plans that use other filing indicators, but I don't know which ones.
