Web Version

Post by murmsk » Fri Apr 04, 2008 11:35 am

So what do I need to start learning to get this web version to work? Since I am older than most of you guys it takes me longer to learn new things therefore I have to start earlier.

I assume apache and mysql running on linux will work.
Can it be run locally or does it have to be connected to the web with a static address?

thanks steve

relax it won't happen in at least 5 more years besides speed is still a problem with internet.

Anyway the way I see it Dr.Sparks will still keep the desktop version and the web version is just a simplier version with appointments etc and the heavy stuff still handle by the desktop version.

The web version will run fine on the office LAN. It doesn't need to actually go out over the web. If you do want to access it from outside, yes you would probably want a static IP address. You might learn about installing a certificate in order to use SSL (HTTPS), but that's not required on the LAN.
