Done With Apteryx

Post by genebrabston » Wed Jan 04, 2023 5:06 am

Our office has been an OD user since 2010. We digitized our radiology in 2011. Due to Apteryx cloud only pricey future, the decision has been made to use OD imaging. In order to transfer Apteryx images to OD all must be exported to a folder as .JPEG files. Now they can be imported into OD. The problem is the .JPEG images carry only the date of export and not the actual date of capture.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to properly date the images short of opening each individually and changing the date?

Scratching my head,

Gene

1- Keep using the old Apteryx to view the old Xrays. Slowly the need to do that will fade out on its own.

2- In Windows, you can sort files, images, etc... by "Date Created" and "Date Modified". There are many instruction on how to show that, just Google it.
CHECK FOR THE DATE MODIFIED

OpenDental has a service where they can transfer all the Apteryx images into OD, for a fee. It is called a conversion of X-Ray images from Apteryx to OpenDental. I have not had it done yet but plan to when we transition into OD imaging completely. We are still waiting for a couple imaging features to be incorporated. I would imagine that conversion would include the dates the x-rays are taken as well. I am still uncertain if all the images will go into single folder for the patient (ie Apteryx images), or if they would be able to separate out FMX, Pano, PAs, BWs into their corresponding folders. I also do not know if mounts (ie FMX, 4BWs, etc) will transfer or only the individual images. If anyone has experience with the conversion process, please let us know.
Thanks

What features do you feel are missing? There's not any active development in the Imaging module at the moment.

I would love for the ability for native image capture into images using Schick, Tuxedo, Kavo, etc without having to use a Twain interface. The twain interface (GxTwain) I used for my mission trip to Guatemala (I didn't have access to Apteryx) just dumped one picture at a time. When importing multiple pictures there was no "bucket" for additional images to be stored in and we'd loose them if we tried to import more than 1 picture at a time.

Would love a patient field definition for the patient's insurance ID number. We need that to send images for claims to medicaid. I think you have all the other fields that Texas medicaid requires.

I think with those 2 things we'd make the move from server based Apteryx over to OD's imaging service. I wouldn't even mind paying someone extra to do the native image capture thing. I'm sure that's a lot of work on the backend for so many sensor types.

The Dexis website for GxTWAIN
https://dexis.com/en-us/gxtwain-and-gxpicture
says that multiple images are tranferred with the the Get All function. We support multiple image transfer, so it should already work fine. You mentioned not having a "bucket". I think what you are looking for is the Mount feature. You must already be in a mount when you start trying to capture multiple images. Native capture would not help your situation at all, and we are very unlikely to add it in the short term, if ever.

Hi Jordan,

Thanks for the quick reply. I did use the "get all" feature in GxTwain with the FMX mount in OD and it would only transfer a single image and then delete the rest of the images in the Twain interface. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? Glad to hear that OD has support for multiple images to be imported from the Twain driver.

Any thoughts on adding the Insurance ID number (in our case the medicaid ID number) so it can automatically add to the mount like the name, birthdate, etc already can?

Thanks,
Dylan

Your device type was Twain Multi?

And you were using a fairly new version?

I've added the Insurance ID field to

Probably not installed wit the multi TWAIN. I'll reconfigure and get back to you. Thanks!

Thanks for adding the Insurance ID field to upcoming features!
